JUNKIES TURKEY BOWL 2004

Sports Junkies Challenge the Divas

On a cold and rainy Monday night in November, 2004 the DC Divas took on the Sports Junkies in a “Battle of the Sexes” tackle football game, contested under NFL rules. The Junkies challenged the Divas to this match-up and talked trash about women on-air all month as they prepared for the game of their lives.

The historic game was held at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, Maryland. The stadium was filled to capacity for the first ever "men versus women" tackle football game. This was the largest crowd to watch a women's tackle football game live.

Running back Donna Wilkinson and line woman Gayle Dilla held their own in-studio as the Junkies tried to intimidate them with their sexist talk and crude remarks. Donna arm wrestled Cakes, and if the results were telling of how the game would go, the Junkies were in trouble.

The game was played with fans being asked to bring Thanksgiving food to benefit So Others Might Eat (SOME), the event’s charity, or give a monetary donation to the Van Brooks Recovery Fund and to the Maryland Concerns of Police Spouses (COPS).

The game was electric with big hits from both sides. Watch the Best of the Junkies video with trash talking, game highlights and a Brian Mitchell extra.  Also, first and second half coverage of the game by Junkies TV!
