The DC Divas Radio Network adds streaming video to game coverage.

Hook & Ladder brewing company is proud to announce that World Champion Donna "The Animal" Wilkinson, has become the company's first Celebrity Brand Amasador. "We are thrilled to have Donna join our championship team" said Hook & Ladder CEO Mat Fleischer.  Donna identifies with Hook & Ladder's philosophy of giving back to the local firefighters burn foundation for every glass sold.  "We've got a great product and we give back to our real heros -  the firefighters," said Wilkinson. 

Donna joined celebrity judge and TV host Anthony Bourdain, and Voice of the Redskins Mark Kessler, on November 15th for the hottest food event in Washington D.C.- the Capital Food Fight!  While guests enjoyed dishes provided by the hottest restaurants around, top chefs battled live for the title!  Donna is proud to represent Hook & Ladder at this exciting event.  Congratulations to champion - Roberto Donna!

Proceeds benefit the D.C. Central Kitchen - combating hunger and creating opportunities!

The D.C. Divas combined with Hook & Ladder and Cabot cheese at the Crystal City Sports Pub on January 17th to raise money for the D.C. area firefighters burn foundation.  Former Redskins Gary Clark, George Starke and Tony McGee joined in the celebration to help raise $2,500 for local firefighters.   The Crystal City Sports Pub is proud to support the burn foundation by serving Hook & Ladder Backdraft Brown and Golden Ale.

Donna "The Animal" Wilkinson and your D.C. Divas went to Hollywood to prove a point... that women belong on the football field!  They also had to prove that they could compete with grown men.  Can women compete with men in contact sports?  This question was answered as Donna and the Divas joined other Women of the Gridiron to take on former high school athletes in a tackle football game for the ages. This game played out to the final second at the L.A. Coliseum where the women tied the score in the final seconds, only to have the men score on one final play to win the game.  Later review showed that the man stepped out of bounds on his way to the winning score.  Stay tuned... a rematch is coming.

Childhood Dream

Playing professional football is a childhood dream of mine.  At five I remember looking at my grandfather and saying to him, “I want to be big like you so I can play football.”  I’d play tackle football in the yard with the neighborhood kids, but I really longed to put the pads on and hit someone.  I went to a private high school in California that didn’t have a football team, otherwise I would have played with the guys.   So I filled my high school sports dream by playing volleyball, basketball and softball.

Time of My Life

I received a softball scholarship and was a five sport athlete at Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, MD.  After college I started playing flag football, but that didn’t satisfy my desire to hit someone.  I wanted to play on a women’s TACKLE football team and I would go anywhere to play.  Word came that a new league was forming and establishing a team in this area.  Baltimore was the first team announced locally, so I tried out with the Baltimore Burn.  Fortunately, when D.C. announced tryouts over a month later, I decided that D.C. was the team I wanted to play for.  I made the team and debuted in the 2001 season.  Now, going into my sixth season as a linebacker, I am having the time of my life and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
